Nude is the Trendy; A Failure of Pen Pushers

Nude pictures and sex tapes are increasingly becoming the larger percentage of content of various blogs and sites that claim to be reporting entertainment news and gossips. Nude now seems to be the trendy. I subscribed to a blog that I'm beginning to somewhat regret, as 70% of mail alerts I get from the blog is about sex tapes, nude pictures of celebs and nude-turned-celebs under various titles.

Young people now shamelessly post their naked pictures to become famous, others for reasons best known to them. I wonder if various bodies trying to stop rape, which has become an incessant occurrence sadly filling the pages of newspapers etc., know that there is a high tendency that after people have finished watching these nude pictures and videos, they want to experiment. The result is the increase in the rate of rape in the society. Such bodies should also target entertainment bloggers and writers in their campaigns.

One may ask if these nude pictures and videos are new to the society, the answer is a capital NO. They are not new. However, access to them have increasingly become easy and various bloggers and sites have contributed in no small measure to its spread. The result, directly or  indirectly is rape, and people wanting to become famous by posting nude pictures and videos. I'm not claiming to be a saint, neither am I saying that nude posts is the sole factor responsible for rape, but it plays a huge role. What must be corrected in the society must be corrected. Pen pushers are 'gatekeepers', and sincerely we are failing in this regard.
As such nude posts increase, immorality is bound to increase; more females, both underage and old are more likely to be raped. For me, I do not think this is what we need now nor later.

We young people should be looking for a way to stop the monumental loss of management integrity that is facing our highly endowed country. We should be interested in generating and implementing ideas that will turn our societies around for better. It is only when preparation meets opportunity that success is achieved.
The media has the power to make an issue popular, and otherwise. The glorification of sex tapes and nude pictures is huge error of status mis-conferral by pen pushers. We claim  we want development, yet issues and news about development are given little or no media attention. When we wanted a change of government during the military era, we all knew what filled the media. I wonder if the news of politics and politicians that has filled the media has brought the change Nigeria needs. Press men and women, the change Nigeria needs begins with us.

With the proliferation of the internet, almost everyone with access to the internet has become a 'journalist'. The success story of this country depends on us all. We are failing at the moment. Our leaders are a reflection of a larger percentage of us, and that is why we are getting what we are getting today. The change begins with you and I.

Join the race against Nudity and Rape. Let's make Nigeria a better place.
